Day 4 of week 2 (I also missed out on this one):

Activity 1: Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Arguably, one of the most dramatic and spectacular (beautiful) places to visit in New Zealand is Milford Sound. It has been referred to as the ‘eighth wonder of the world.’ It is a beautiful fiord (steep valley) that was formed when big pieces of ice (glaciers) melted. The melted glaciers created a beautiful river that is surrounded by dramatic cliffs and snow-capped mountains. People who visit Milford Sound are able to take a boat cruise through the middle of the fiord, walk around the area on the Milford Track or fly above the fiord as part of a private helicopter tour.
Let’s imagine that you had the chance to visit Milford Sound by boat, foot (walking) or air (helicopter). Which option would you prefer?
On your blog tell us which of the three options you would take to explore Milford Sound. Be sure to tell us why you have chosen this option.
By boat because you might see dolphins during the journey (and I love dolphins), I love travelling by water, birds in the forest when the boat stops and you get to go close up looks at islands and mountains.

  1. Hello Taleisha. I really liked your post on this one, it doesn't matter if you do not do it on the day you are supposed to, I had to do 2 days every day because I was at my dads for 2 weeks.
    Keep up the good work
    Jack

  2. Kia ora Taleisha,

How is your Tuesday morning going? In Auckland it is overcast and dull, with potential showers (hopefully not). What’s the weather like in the beautiful Northland?

I think travelling by boat to Milford Sound would be a brilliant idea and an awesome experience. Boats don’t go as fast as helicopters and it wouldn’t be as slow as walking there, it’s right in between. You may see different sea animals too! What would you smell, see and feel when you step out of the boat?

Looking forward to hearing back from you!

    Blog you later!

    1. Kia Ora Georgia E,

It was okay. We went for a little drive. A beautiful day to have a drive. I am staying in Auckland for the holiday period at my mum's place in South Auckland.

I love going on boats. Like you mentioned, they are not to fast and not too slow. I think you would see quite a number of mountain range and rough terrain. Also lush forests and walking tracks through the forests. Smell, a bit of a hard one but I would imagine you would smell very clean, crisp air from the mountains and the smell of bark from the forests. It would probably feel a bit cold as the mountains would be quite close.

      Thanks for the comment!
