Last Wednesday, the year 7&8’s went to Moerewa school for technology.
The year 7’s did woodwork with Mr E and the year 8’s did cooking with Whaea Dot.
In Whaea Dot’s class we made apple strudel. First made our dough (because we had to leave it to rise)
which was divided into 2 to share with our partner (my partner was Averil), then we broke up 2 slices of bread until
it was a crumble. After Morning tea we had to ‘kneed and smash’ our dough. It was fun and very loud work.
After that we had to roll out our dough on a floured tea towel. After rolling it out we put our fruits
(which had been put into our bowl of bread crumbs) onto our pastry. After baking it, we were able to eat it.
Whaea Dot gave us some ice cream to have with it. I think I did well on helping my buddy and cooking but I could
work on listening closer to instructions (after a mistake with my the dough).
