Day 4: Another world war (WW ll)

Activity 2: A call to arms
Name: Major Charles Heaphy
Why he was awarded the VC for rescuing a soldier under a fire at Waiari near Te Awamutu in 1864 and was rewarded the medal in 1867 (3 years later).

Bonus activity: Women at work
One day I was walking along the deck of the ship when I hear a loud bang. I start to run as I see smoke coming from the far end of the ship. I run towards the room where my patients are waiting to receive treatment from the doctor. Just as I arrive at the door to their room I hear another loud bang and I tumble on the deck but I manage to get up and push open the door. My hands tremble but I mange to help the soldiers who have sustained injuries. Then it strikes again. This time it throws me across the room but I don't sustain any injuries though. I turn and see that medical equipment is strewn all over the place. I rush over to help nurses who are underneath equipment. I wait for the next bang but it never comes and that, is a relief.

Day 2: The roaring 20's

Activity 1: Popular culture- The silent movie
I think the movie is about people trying to find gold in a really cold place like Antarctica. I wouldn't really like to watch a silent movie because we wouldn't really understand what they are trying to say. So it would kind confuse people.

Activity 2: Art deco
3 because we don't really know what author is trying to achieve and it doesn't have expression but whoever painted it is very artistic.

Bonus Activity: Crossing the Tasman

I am a captain in my plane
My crew shivering in the wake of the storm
My eyes strain to find a landing
I see landing lights
I land safely
A mission well done
Now we rest

Week 2: The early years

Activity 1: St Joseph's Cathedral

Milan Cathedral, Italy, it was built in 1386 and it took six centuries to build

Activity 2: The right to vote
It isn't fair because if men only vote then women think they aren't important and think that their voices are useless and they shouldn't be heard.

Bonus activity: In Flanders's Fields
It made me feel kind of sad because of the sacrifices they made to save our country but it also made me happy because they made us proud and defended our country as best as they could.

Bonus activity music festivals- Matanini: 1- Tamatea Arikinui because it was joyful , 2- Te Puku O Te Ika because they sung in harmony, 3- Te Iti Kikurangi because they weren't really swaying to the beat and they weren't really singing loud enough.

Day two of summer learning journey: It's all in a day's work

Activity 1: The Wharepuna does not look the same to my house. The Wharepuna has a longer roof then my house. My house is made out of wood, concrete and other building materials and Wharepuna's are made out of timber, fern, rushes and bark.

Activity 2: My dream jobs are: You-tuber, Librarian and be a travel blogger.

Bonus activity: Waka Ama.

I wouldn't want to compete in a Waka Ama competition because you would have to train for hours and you would get really tired. That is why I wouldn't compete in a Waka Ama competition.

Here is a video of women training for a competition.

Setting Sail

I'm super scared and excited. I am moving to a new country called New Zealand. The waka was so cool. The ride was really bumpy but the views were amazing! That is my letter about going on a waka.
