Day 4 of summer learning journey: Hitting a high note

Activity 1 The Waiata- a song in your heart: I really like this song called Ka pioioi. We sing it in the morning sometimes (we always sing in the morning) Here is the lyrics and cords (if you have a guitar that is) to Ka pioioi: Song

Activity 2: I have played Poi Raukau before. It was really fun. First we played it with two ropes on the ground and had to hop either to the left, right or centre then we did it with sticks.

Bonus activity music festivals- Matanini: 1- Tamatea Arikinui because it was joyful , 2- Te Puku O Te Ika because they sung in harmony, 3- Te Iti Kikurangi because they weren't really swaying to the beat and they weren't really singing loud enough.

  1. Kia Ora Taleisha,

Firstly I saw that you commented on Yuktha's post saying it was your birthday today. Happy Birthday! I hope you had a great day and your family let you not do any chores for the day. That's always my favourite part about my Birthday - no dishes! :-)

That is awesome that you always sing in the morning, when I visited your school I was there for your songs and karakia's and it was such an awesome experience for me. You all sang with such pride and sounded amazing.

What are some rules around Poi Raukau? How do you win?

I'm not going to be online to comment as regularly over the next 10 days as I'm taking a little holiday with my friends and family, but I will try and check up as often as I can. I hope you and your Whanau have a safe and happy Christmas! :-) Keep up the awesome blog posts and I look forward to reading them when I'm back at work.

    Nga mihi
